On the market or not onthemarket.com that is the question?

Something to think about when choosing your agent

You may or may not have seen Estate Agents windows across the country coming out in a strange retro rash. Don’t be alarmed this isn’t the latest pandemic, but the launch of the eagerly awaited Onthemarket.com, a conglomerate of estate agencies answer to relieve the dominance of the house hold names of Rightmove.co.uk and the Zoopla Property Group. News of this new portal saw the share prices of the ‘Duopoly’, dropping heavily prior to its big launch on the 26th of January.

Now why is this noteworthy? With the days of potential purchasers wondering into every high street agent to register there details and browsing there shop windows for the latest properties are long gone. With customers choosing their computers, mobiles and tablets as the new shop window, and the ease of browsing many agents stock at the click of a button, a properties exposure online is essential, in order to secure the sale of your property at the right price and in the quickest possible time.

“exposure online is essential, in order to secure the sale of your property”

One of the stipulations of this new property portal, onthemarket.com is to restrict the number of locations that a member agent can advertise online! As a new agent coming to the market, we weighed up do we go with this unproven entity that restricts how much exposure we can give our portfolio of properties online, or go with the tried and tested household names. As if the one other portal rule wasn’t enough, but the members behind this new portal, require agents to sign up to this new venture for 5 years.

“onthemarket.com is to restrict the number of locations that a member agent can advertise online!”

After seconds of deliberation, we decided that lining our pockets wasn’t our priority, and that making sure that we can get our properties in front as many potential purchasers as possible, was. So rather than restricting ourselves, at Morris and Bott our properties will be featured on Rightmove, Zoopla, Prime Location, Vebra.com and Homes24 to name but a few. So we urge you to make sure your agent is putting you and your property first.
