Inspired by Instow
Sitting on the banks of the estuary where the rivers Taw and Torridge meet, the much sought after village of Instow has long been a popular haunt for tourists and day trippers alike, with a selection of pubs and restaurants that line the beach front. Just set back from the water, Instow is littered with a selection of charming fisherman’s cottages, imposing grand residences, with many enjoying panoramic estuary and sea views.
Instow beach being a sheltered river beach means that the waters are calm and are ideal for families and for paddling. Instow beach unlike many locally is a dog friendly beach all year round, and due to the road running alongside the beach front, make this easily accessible for people of all ages and mobility’s.
The path of the former railway line, now called the Tarka trail passes through Instow, providing a popular gentle way of exploring the estuary between Bideford and Barnstaple by either foot or bike.
